Consumers in Canada and the United States whose booked China tours got cancelled due to COVID now realize that the China tour companies they dealt with are no longer in business. China tour companies including Pacific Delight Tours of New York, Nexus Holidays, China Focus Travel of San Francisco and China Spree Travel (aka World Spree Travel) either went belly up soon after the pandemic started. In the case of Vacances Sinorama (also known as Simorama Holidays), the China tour operator was shut down by the provincial regulators across Canada due to misuse of consumer funds.
In addition to the above-mentioned tour operators, many smaller China tour operators in Canada and the United States also disappeared or stopped renewing their licenses in jurisdictions where licensing is mandatory.
Laurus Travel is an exception. We comfortably survived the pandemic due to fiscal prudence and diversification of destinations early on. When demand for China travel becomes weak, we still have other destinations including Japan, Southeast Asia and the Indian subcontinent to fall back on.
