Although there are quite some reviews on Laurus Travel on TripAdvisor, Yelp and elsewhere on the internet, we must admit that the number of reviews does not reflect our long history (since 1998) and the volume we have handled in that time frame.
The main reason for the lack of online reviews on Laurus Travel has much to do with the demographics we serve. The great majority of our travellers are seniors. Many of them, especially retired white-collar professionals, are not among the most enthusiastic in sharing their thoughts with strangers in public domains.
Below is a perfect example to make our point. The retired white-collar professional has this to say when we asked him whether he’d like to share his thoughts about his recent trip with Laurus Travel:
From: Alton I—— We were pleased with our China tour experience with Laurus Travel. We will certainly use Laurus again when we travel to Asia. I did take the time to compose a complimentary review. Unfortunately, when I attempted to submit my Laurus review to Google, Trip Advisor, Yelp, Facebook, etc, each service requires the reviewer to set up an account and then sign-in to that account before the vendor will accept the review. I do not participate in social media. I have no social media apps or accounts and have no desire to create any. My contribution to modernity consists of an email account and a cell phone where I do nothing beyond initiating and receiving calls. I am unable to write a Laurus review without first setting up social media accounts which I don’t want to do. Alton I |
That we are not often talked about online by customers has been an issue for us from a marketing perspective. A solution to this problem is to diversify our product offering to reach more consumers who are younger and more active in social media. One recent example of our effort in this regard is the launch of the 11-day Highlights of Japan tour in the summer of 2024.
The guests may not talk about us online, but they more than make it up to us with their loyalty. Not only do they refer lots of business to us, but they also keep coming back until we run out of destinations for them, which is the main reason that we are able to survive and prosper without spending on advertising. As time goes on, we must add more destinations to satisfy the needs of our loyal customers.
Most consumers may say nothing when they are satisfied, but, when they feel let down by a business, they generally would make a special effort to broadcast their displeasure. If you use the non-existence of damning reviews on Laurus Travel as a reliable yardstick to measure our performance, you probably would agree that Laurus Travel must have been doing something right all these years.
Happy travels!
