Breaking News!
After more than three years of Covid-19 induced ban on foreign tourists, China is reopening its borders to foreign tourists. China no longer requires foreign visitors to quarantine. Statements issued on Monday by Chinese embassies in Ottawa and Washington, DC failed to elaborate whether other requirements specific to Covid-19 will be imposed.
Starting from today, foreigners including Canadians and Americans can apply for visas to travel to China for tourism purposes. The application process will be facilitated by the Chinese embassies and consulates in their respective countries. Those who were issued Chinese visas prior to the pandemic can still use them so long as they are within the validity date.
The reopening of China’s tourism industry is a significant development for the global travel sector, which has been hard hit by the pandemic. China, with its rich cultural heritage and natural wonders, is a popular destination for millions of tourists worldwide, and the resumption of international travel is expected to bring a much-needed boost to the country’s economy.
