| “This trip was our second with Laurus: we went to China with them 10 years ago. This company is truly excellent–as attested to by the fact that EVERYONE in our group was a repeat client. The itinerary is creative and not cookie-cutter; the guides are fantastic in their knowledge and concern for the traveller; the hotels are excellent; the tour attracted highly educated and sophisticated travellers which added immeasurably to our experience. Overall: A+ from this academic!” [ more testimonials ] |

Best Time to Visit Southeast Asia
In general, the best times to visit most countries in Southeast Asia including Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, and Malaysia are between October and March with December, January and February being the best months. This is because those months fall under the dry season when temperatures are cooler (relatively speaking). The heat and humidity in October, November and March are higher than in December, January and February, but they are bearable for most travellers from North America.
If you plan to visit the east coast of peninsular Malaysia and Borneo, or any part of Indonesia, June, July and August are considered better months due to the lack of rain. That is when accommodations and air transportation cost more.
The rainy season in mainland or continental Southeast Asia (Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam, and the peninsular portion of Malaysia) normally ends by October. However, temperatures across the region are still high, often reaching 28 degrees Celsius (82.4°F) around that time. One key advantage in going in October is the lack of crowding at popular tourist sites such as Angkor.
In continental Southeast Asia and peninsular Malaysia, temperatures begin to rise rapidly in March. By April, the temperatures can become too hot to be bearable for most visitors from North America, which is why we offer no scheduled group departures beyond late March.
