Thailand Tours from Canada – International Airfare

Thailand tours from Canada have been made easier when Air Canada introduced non-stop flights between Vancouver and Bangkok in 2022. The inaugural flight took off from Vancouver International Airport on December 1 that year. The schedule is seasonal, meaning the non-stop flights are only in operation during the winter to facilitate Canadians seeking sun destinations during the winter. So far, this is the only non-stop flight available between North America and Thailand.

Meal Code: B = breakfast / L = lunch / D = dinner

Day 1/Thu: Departing for Bangkok
Your Thailand tour from Canada starts with your transpacific flight departing from a city of your choice. Guests wishing to fly business class should contact us for a great offer. You’ll lose a day upon crossing the International Date Line.

Day 2/Fri: Arrival in Bangkok
Meet the driver on arrival for your private transfer to the hotel. No activity or meal is arranged for today. The guide will get in touch with you tonight.

Day 3/Sat: Bangkok (B/L/D)
Located in Chao Phraya River delta, Bangkok is the capital and the most populous city of Thailand, with a population of 10.5 million within the city proper or over 15% of the country’s total. The city is known in Thai as Krung Thep Maha Nakhon. A major financial and cultural centre in Southeast Asia, Bangkok also functions as an important hub for airlines serving the region.

We begin our sightseeing today at the royal Grand Palace. Established in 1782, the palace was dramatically expanded throughout successive reigns. The king and his royal government were based on the grounds of the palace until 1925.

We then proceed to the National Museum, which is the largest museum in Southeast Asia and features exhibits of Thai art and history.

Afternoon sightseeing takes in Wat Arun, a Buddhist temple on the Chao Phraya River. The temple derives its name from the Hindu god Aruna, often personified as the radiations of the rising sun. Wat Arun is among the best known of Thailand’s landmarks.

Later in the day, we go on a long tail boat for an hour-long cruise on picturesque Chao Phraya River and the Klongs (canals) of Thonburi on the west side of the river. There will be chance to observe and photograph the serene family homes and temples along the waterways.

If time permits, we’ll stop by Wat Pho (a Buddhist temple complex) and Bangkok’s historical Chinatown.

Day 4/Sun: Bangkok – Ayutthaya – Bangkok (B/L)
Following breakfast we set out for a full-day (7 to 8 hours) excursion to Ayutthaya, a town about 90 km north of Bangkok. Founded around 1350, Ayutthaya served as the capital of the Tai state of Ayutthaya (Siam), precursor of the new kingdom established in modern-day Bangkok, until it was razed by the Burmese army in 1767. The ruins of the old city are preserved in the Ayutthaya Historical Park, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site inscribed in 1991. The remaining reliquary towers and gigantic monasteries in the park give visitors an idea of Ayutthaya’s past splendour.

Thailand Tours from Canada – Q&A

Do I need a passport to enter Thailand?
Yes, you’ll need a passport that has at least one blank visa page and a validity of six (6) months beyond the tour’s return date.

Do I need a visa to enter Thailand?
No, Canadian passport holders do not need tourist visa to enter Thailand if the intended stay is less than 30 days. Visit Thai embassy in Canada’s website for more info.

Do I need to bring any immunization certificate to enter Thailand?
No, visitors may be asked to show proof of vaccinations against COVID-19 prior to or on arrival. This information will be updated regularly to reflect the fluid nature of COVID control requirements.

We are not aware of any other inoculation requirements and we suggest you visit the websites of your national government’s disease control centre and pertinent embassies in your country for the latest. We recommend all of our guests to be vaccinated against hepatitis A.

Should I obtain Thai Baht before arrival in Thailand?
No, you shouldn’t because you really have nothing to gain by doing so. It’s a lot better to obtain local currency on arrival either through a local currency dealer or ATM machines using your bank card.

The Thai currency known as Baht (THB) is freely convertible on the international market but you do get better exchange rates inside Thailand. Remember to keep your inventory of local currency to the minimum. Your tour fare covers all the expensive items already. You only need some local cash, which can be easily replenished as you go, for souvenirs, tips and meals not included in the tour price.

Can I pay for anything in US dollars in Thailand?
No, unlike in some poor Southeast Asian countries where street vendors welcome payments in US dollars, Thai merchants only want to be paid in their own currency, similar to what happens in China, Japan, South Korea and Singapore, to name a few.

Can I use credit cards in Thailand?
Major credit cards such as Visa and MasterCard are widely accepted throughout Thailand, as is the case throughout Southeast Asia.

What is the best time to visit Thailand?

The best time to visit Thailand is generally from November to February, when the weather is cooler and drier across most of the country, making it ideal for sightseeing, outdoor activities, and beach vacations. March being a month in transition, you may luck out visiting Thailand in March, when hotels are cheaper than in the cooler months.

November to February offers comfortable temperatures between 25°C and 29°C and lower humidity. Skies are usually clear, and rain is infrequent.

What’s the worst time to visit Thailand?

March to May is hot, with temperatures reaching up to 35°C. But that’s not the worst.

The worst time is rainy season running from June to October. With heavy and sporadic downpours come high humidity, especially in September and October. While travel is possible, some outdoor activities may be limited due to rain.

Regional Differences
For west coast islands like Phuket, the driest months are December to March.

The east coast (Gulf of Thailand) is rainier from September to December but often sunny from April to September, making places like Koh Samui attractive during the opposite time to Phuket.

Northern Thailand follows similar dry and wet seasonal patterns but can be cooler from November to January.

Travel Tips
November to February is considered peak tourist season, so expect higher prices and more crowds at popular destinations.

March to May (hot season) and June to October (rainy season) offer fewer tourists and sometimes better deals, though the weather may be less ideal for some activities.

No matter when the trip is planned, it is possible to find pleasant weather somewhere in Thailand, as regional climates vary.
