Laurus Travel uses first-class/4-star, premium/5-star, and boutique hotels that are centrally located with easy access to sights and transportation. The specific type of hotel depends slightly on the destination.
In Japan, we primarily use first-class/4-star and boutique hotels. We typically avoid 5-star properties in Japan as well-located 5-star hotels would significantly increase the cost of the tour.
In China, South Korea, Southeast Asia and the Indian subcontinent, we use luxury accommodations.
Regardless of the destination, you can expect properties that offer complimentary Wi-Fi and daily buffet breakfasts.

We book hotels with the assumption that our customers are all non-smokers. In fact, few of the hotels we use still have smoking rooms. As a smoker, you either step outside the hotel for your nicotine fix or face a huge fine if you smoke in the room.
Rooms for tour groups are assigned by a run-of-the-house system. Consequently we do not accept requests for a specific floor or room type.
In addition, rooms booked under discounted group rates generally do not qualify for reward points or free upgrades even if you enjoy elite status with the hotels.
Since the rooms are booked at group rates under tour operator contracts, the hotels are not in a position to upgrade you or treat you better than other guests on our list. Any effort to contact the hotels before arrival with the hope to upgrade will be a waste of time.
Room Upgrade
Requests for room upgrade are declined not only because they cause operational headache for us but also lead to friction among the guests in the same group. We treat every guest in the same group equally and allow nobody to buy preferential treatment.
